JONNY KING

Jonny King is a British screenwriter and an ex-Marine of the British Royal Marines who started to started his screenwriting career off by writing jokes and sketches for BBC Radio. Originally from High Wycombe, Jonny is now based in Plymouth, Devon.

His comedy feature LAND'S END was a Shore Scripts Feature Contest Winner, a We Screenplay Feature Contest Finalist, a Screen Craft Screenwriting Fellowship semi-finalist and a Blue Cat Screenplay Competition quarter-finalist. It is currently optioned and in development with Emmy award-winning director Ben Tricklebank and producer Theresa Larché. It has featured on Coverfly's Red List and is currently ranked in the top 1% of all comedy projects.

His sitcom pilot GIFTED is a 2021 Page Turner Awards Screenplay Award Winner, a top-ten finalist for comedy in the Emerging Screenwriters Genre Screenplay Competition and a semi-finalist in the Script Lab Screenplay Contest. It was also short-listed for the Screen and Story Film Festival Screenplay Competition and long-listed for the Short Com TV Sitcom Writing Competition.

Another sitcom pilot, OLIGARCHS, was a quarter-finalist in the Script Lab Screenplay Contest and the We Screenplay TV Contest. His comedy short BOLD was a Best Comedy Screenplay Winner in the Newman Consults Four Minute Screenplay Competition and another comedy short, SOLSTICE, was a quarter-finalist in the Filmmatic Comedy Screenplay Awards.

His broadcast credits include NewsjackThe Skewer and Breaking The News on the radio and The Treason Show on television.

He also does some sports writing, having written for a number of magazines and websites, including When Saturday Comes. He is the editor of The Wanderer fanzine and has assisted the media department of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, including writing for the matchday programme and providing live matchday commentary and social media reporting.
