MARIANNE AMELINCKX

Marianne Amelinckx is a queer Venezuelan director based in Los Angeles whose work is rooted in female-driven, LGBTQ+, and immigrant stories. A resourceful and sharp filmmaker, she brings a strong visual sensibility to stories that are emotionally grounded, character-driven, and deeply human.
Marianne’s career gained international recognition with her short film Salta (Dive), which received a Jury Mention at the 2017 Tribeca Festival and won Best Short Film at the Pink Apple LGBTQ+ Film Festival. The Tribeca jury described the film as “visceral, deeply moving, meditative and exquisitely constructed.” That same year, she was selected as a finalist for Tribeca and Chanel’s prestigious Through Her Lens program.
After several years directing and producing social media content at a marketing agency, Marianne transitioned into freelance directing, working across commercial, branded, and narrative projects. Her independent work includes Mustache Mondays, a documentary episode for PBS’s Emmy Award-winning series Artbound, which premiered at Outfest Los Angeles and received the LA Press Award for Best LGBT Feature. That same year, she co-directed Blessed and Highly Favored, a proof-of-concept film that won the NALIP Women of Color TV Incubator and the Yes, And… Laughter Lab for Social Impact Comedy. She was also a finalist for Shondaland’s Women Directing Mentorship Program.
More recently, Marianne has become a sought-after director in the rapidly growing microdrama space, directing for platforms including ReelShort, DramaBox, MyDrama, and aTwist. Her projects have collectively generated more than 500 million views, demonstrating her ability to connect with audiences at massive scale while working within fast-paced, highly collaborative production environments.
She is currently completing post-production on her first feature documentary, Dear Uncle, which has received support from the Tribeca Institute and Canva. The film explores family secrets, identity, memory, and healing through a deeply personal story rooted in her Venezuelan heritage.
Alongside her directing career, Marianne has more than 15 years of experience working in film production as an Assistant Director. Her extensive below-the-line experience gives her an uncommon understanding of the set, from logistics and scheduling to crew leadership and execution. She brings that production expertise into her directing work, combining creative vision with the ability to lead complex productions efficiently and collaboratively.
