RAINY KERWIN
Director/Writer

Rainy Kerwin is the award-winning, writer-director of the feature film, “The Wedding Invitation.” On its festival tour, the film racked up six wins, including Best Comedy, Best Screenplay & Best Actress. The film was distributed by Freestyle Releasing and was picked up by Amazon Prime

Rainy recently completed post-production on the revenge-thriller "A Neighbor's Vendetta" (releasing 2023) which she wrote and directed for MarVista Entertainment. Produced by Rick Benattar and Nigel Thomas.

Rainy’s upcoming project is a feature film “Marrow” that she wrote and is attached to direct (winter 2023). It was short-listed for the PGA ProShow awards, the Meryl Streep NYWIFT, placed top 12% in the Nicholl Fellowship and was awarded a $500K forgivable grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

She just completed a writer-for-hire rewrite gig on the feature “Rock Yard,” for executive producer Warren Zide (American Pie, Final Destination) and earlier she was hired to co-write a feature with an A-List Oscar-Award-Winning actor (contractually under NDA to not disclose until release).

Early in her writing career, Rainy was tapped by veteran producer Tamara Rawitt (In Living Color, creator) to write sketch and musical parody, for her TBS pilot.

Rainy is an actors’ director and loves working with talent. She’s directed and coached over 1000 actors in both comedy and drama. She honed her directing skills during eight years on staff at LA’s largest film & TV acting conservatory. Performance is paramount to Rainy. Through the lens, she captures rich frames, allowing her set locations and production design to play a character in her films.

She has been fortunate to be mentored by showrunner Rick Singer (Pitch on FOX) and producer Julie Lynn (Terminator: Dark Fate, Life). She’s shadowed Emmy-award-winning director, Pamela Fryman (How I Met Your Mother, Friends) and coached acting alongside renowned acting coach Gary Spatz (Roseanne). He is best known for discovering Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears and Hillary Swank. Rainy comes from solid training in acting and improv, both skill sets that she carries into her writing and directing.

Rainy is a self-taught editor, a huge tool that she relies on when prepping her films, shotlisting and making on-set key decisions to make her day. Prepping her actors through backstories, specific character details, improv and an open dialogue, helps her sets run smoothly and produces a safe family-like space for everyone to create.

Rainy was born in Hollywood but grew up in Winnipeg, Canada, playing ice hockey and mastering the skill of drinking slurpees in -40F (it’s not for the faint of heart). Oh… and she can jump start a stick shift with a simple pop of the clutch. She has both the US and a Canadian passport. Being half French-Canadian, she also speaks French. Currently, Rainy resides between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and spends her summers in Seattle, on a floating home, directly across the lake from the “Sleepless in Seattle” floating home.

Rainy is a proud member of the Film Fatales and the Alliance of Women Directors. She performed improv for two years with the comedy troupe “So Funny It Squirts” and the all-female troupe “The Fluffers.”

“Working with Rainy has been one of the highlights of my 25+ year career. Her attention to detail and her beautiful artistic choices make her a filmmaker to watch for years to come. Her future is bright and I am excited to see what she brings to her next film.
